On Saturday 24 November a wide range of care and support providers from across the North East gathered together at the Gateshead Hilton to take part in the Great North Est Care Awards process.

New Prospects had three of its staff who made it through the shortlisting to be in with a chance of an award. They were John Trueman (The Care Newcomer Award). John works in North Tyneside Outreach where he does fantastic work including job coaching the people we support when this is called for.

Julie Ruddick (The Ancillary Worker Award). Julie, as many of you will know, works in Finance. She was nominated for all the work she does to support the people we work with - from taking time time off to help with gardening or decorating to fighting with the Local Authorities to ensure that the financial assessment process they use to impose charges is done fairly and people we support are not wrongly assesed.

Finally Ellen Vick, Chief Executive was nominated for The Outstanding Contribution to Social Care.

It was a glittering evening and a very succesful one for New prospects. Up against stiff opposition, both John and Ellen were the winners in their category and will go on to take part in the London finals next year.

It is great to see that New Prospects staff are getting the recognition they deserve. Congratulations to all the finalists and to all the nominators - a fantastic success story which we urge you to share with others as you go about your daily work.
