Exciting launch for social group

Friday, March 19, 2010

On 2/3/10 the New Prospects Association Community Social Group had its first outing, with 23 people attending. The aim of the group is to bring people who are connected to NPA together in a relaxed environment to have a good time and make and build new friendships The night was a fantastic success, not only did service users from outreach and supported living turn up, but also their families and friends as well.

The group went for an Italian meal at Mama Rosa's restaurant in Cullercoats. Normally on a Tuesday night the restaurant would have been quiet however the New Prospects group really livened up the atmosphere. It was great that people who had not seen each other for a long time were able to meet up and reform old friendships. Plenty of new friendships were formed as well, with phone numbers swapped and arrangements made to meet for coffee at each others' houses.

The feedback received has been overwhelming with many people asking when the next outing is. It was quite noticeable that the group of people who attended like a party and having a good time, so as a result another night out has been booked for the end of April 2010. The plan is to go to Newcastle greyhound stadium with at least 30 people. The group will also be sponsoring a race (New Prospects Stakes) so someone will be handing over the trophy to the winning trainer and get their photo taken. The group has got access to the NPA mini bus which will make it easier for those who have difficulties in travelling to the venue.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved in the making the first outing such a great success - without them it would not have happened.
