Karen Hoggett award

Congratulations to Graham and Neil of Locksley Close who have been presented with the prestigious "Karen Hoggett" award for 2009 by the members of the Corner Club which is based at St Andrew's Church in Benton.  The award is in recognition of their efforts and the progress they have made that has allowed them to successfully move from their family homes to their own home in North Shields where they received support from New Prospects.  The silver trophy and framed certificates now have pride of place in their home and everyone is thrilled that the progress that Graham and Neil have made has been recognised in this way.

The Corner Club meets every first and third Friday of the month and has around 25 members with a learning disability.  There are 17 volunteer helpers who make sure that the members get out and about.  Neil has been a member of the club for many years and Graham has joined during the last 12 months.

The "Karen Hoggett" award is given in memory of a former member of the club, who sadly died at a young age several years ago.  Graham and Neil, and their staff team, would like to thank club members for all the fun that they provide and hope that they will be involved in the club for many years to come.
