Recruitment Day

Monday, October 25, 2010

New Prospects held its first Open Day at Shiremoor Library on 23 September 2010. This was a new venture for us and we advertised it widely in local press and in community venues throughout North Tyneside.

During the day representatives from VODA were available to talk about volunteering opportunities in general, as well as the information that we were able to give about opportunities within New Prospects.

I.D. Training were ably represented by Suzanne van Rooijen who is managing a scheme which helps people to become job ready by offering them a comprehensive training package which equipts them with the skills needed to work with people with a learning disability.

Visitors were able to watch a film made by people supported by New Prospects about how the organisation can help them, as well as talk to senior staff about the orgnaisation and how they could be part of it.

Over 40 people attended during the day, including a group of students from Tyne Met College who were taking a Health and Social Care course and were keen to find out more.

Overall the event was judged a great success and we will certainly be planning similar events in 2011
